I have nothing.

Sorry for the lack of .....um....letting you know I still exist. Well last weekend we went to a religious convention. It was awesome in all aspects. They even had a nursing room set aside for all the nursing mothers. It had a radio with a bunch of chairs and a nice air purifying fan. Here is Lily paying attention to the convention.

I swear my boobs didn't look like they were going to pop out and poke someone in the eye, when I tried the dress on. Sorry.

Anyways, back to the convention. It was so encouraging to be around all of these nursing moms, it was also interesting to see how different people are. Some women would just bust out a boobie and start feeding, others would take two hours to cover themselves and hide the baby, etc. etc. I was the first of the two. I just don't really care too much, if you don't want to see a boobie, then don't look, is my motto. If you are shy, I have nothing against it. But Lilian wouldn't let me be shy, if I even attempted to cover her, she'd throw the blanket right off.
So that weekend, for whatever reason, Lilian was a nursing fool. Maybe it was her security blanket for being in a different place? Other than that, she did awesome. We went out to eat that weekend a couple of times, Lilian and I shared food, and she took daily naps on my lap. It was awesome.
As soon as we got back home though, she got a little under the weather. The doctor thinks she might be allergic to Kitty, our cat. Yup, that's right, our cat is named Kitty, it's so original it blows your mind, right? I know. So we have to give her away. Lilian is starting to feel a little better though.
Well, in other news my father is officially back in his old country. My mom was a wreck when he was on his way. Every few minutes "Lari, can you check and see if your father's flight is on time?" "Lari can you check if your father's flight left?" "Can you see if the flight landed?" I guess that's how it is after being married for 30+ years. My father was a little hesistant to leave, he doesn't see the point, in his eyes, his family is here. But I know he will enjoy himself and all of his childhood memories will come flooding back to him, I wish I could have gone with him.

My brother helped him find a nice digital camera and gave my father a tutorial on how to use it. My father is cute, the night before his departure, we (Lilian, Jace, my brother and his wife and my mother.) were all at my parents, and I hear my dad in the backround "Alright Danny, let's reveiw!" Holding up the camera pointing at my brother. I'm really looking forward to seeing pictures of my family I never had the chance to meet. The Grandmother I never got to bond with or hear old world stories from, or get wet uninvited kisses from. I can't wait to see how my Uncle looks, I've always heard we look alike. I wonder if it's true. I won't get to see how my Grandfather looks though, he passed away when I first got married 6 years ago. Even though I never met him, I remember how much I cried, I cried like him and I had a past. I cried because I lost my chance to ever meet him and hug him. I digress.

Well I'll leave you all with a picture of Lilian and bubbles. I gave her a bath with this stuff thats for babies with colds...I didn't know it made bubbles ( a big no-no, according to my pedi.)

19 months

A year and 7 months. This might be a little too much information to share with the blog world, but that's how long I've gone without having a period. This morning I had stomach cramps, I thought "Maybe eating fries and chicken nuggets at midnight last night is not agreeing with me." That just shows you how long it's been since I've felt what it's like to have a normal cycle, I've actually forgot the PMS symptoms. HAH. Strange.
It explains so much though. The reason why I've been a little more emotional, angery, wanting to eat all the time. I almost thought I was pregnant. Nope. Just PMS'ing.

That's all of my inappropriate post that you probably didn't care AT ALL to read about.

I'm a slacker

But I have nothing really to report.
Yesterday Lily hung out with her Cousin, D. Today we are going to get some errands done and tomorrow.........well tomorrow is a different story. Tomorrow is traumatic, scary, nerve wrecking, and I don't know if I'm prepared. I don't have choice though. I'll tell you later how it goes and what I'm talking about.

Here are some pictures Lilian's cousin. He's a cutie, I want to pinch his cheeks....well I do.

Wordless Wednesday?

Partially wordless that is. He are some random pictures. If you have any questions about them, let me know (i.e where were you, what the heck were you doing?).

Overreacting Mom?

I first noticed this rash on Lily on Sunday, I thought it was nothing, now it spread to her other cheek. I called her doctor and she has an appointment tomorrow, but I did the worst thing you could do, look it up on the internet, now I'm so nervous. She hasn't had a fever that I could tell, and has no other symptoms or anything, but still, I'm nervous. Oh and by the way, the pictures don't do the rash justice, the flash washes out the color of the rash and make it look smaller than it actually is.

I love "firsts"

It's one of the many perks to being a mama, being able to have front row seat to your child's reaction to first time experience.
Like the first time I handed Lilian her a dill pickle....awesome, especially when she attempted to eat it three more times, and seeing three different "Oh my gawd what is this stuff!" face. Or the first time she danced when seeing me act-a-fool to one of her t.v shows. How about the first time she reached out for me to pick her up, ((sigh)) my heart melted that day. The first time she attempted to get a wet noodle from her sticky hands in to her mouth, now that's hilarious, but it also made me very proud to see my little one figure out how to eat like a 'big' girl.
I look forward to bringing her to new places. The beach was a favorite. Or last week we brought her to the Bucc.aneer.s football practice. Boy was it hot! But as a little over protective mom, I was completely prepared, I bought a battery powered misting fan that I kept on her at all times, not to mention she was slathered in baby sun screen. Oh and of course I had ice water on hand in her sippy cup. She could care less about the sweaty, padded football players running into each other like mad bulls, nope, she preffered investgrating the screws that kept the bleachers, that we sat on, together.

She loved sitting next to her Daddy and reading her book. And boy was she pooped when we left.

Boobies!!

I was going to post about Lily's first time seeing the Bucs football practice, but another issue has come to my attention.
So I came across and article that talks about a European doll that has been manufactured that is causing a big ruckus. The breastfeeding doll. It comes with a baby that cries when it wants more milk, along with a nursing top for the "mother" and a cover for when she breastfeeds. Some people were quoted in the article saying that it promotes early pregnancy and one columnist was even quoted to say "What's next? Inmate doll? Erectile Dysfunction doll?"
REALLY?! Are they serious? How is it that we as humans are so prude as to compare a breastfeeding doll to a criminally inclined doll or a doll with a SEXUAL problem??? That right there shows you how we look at breastfeeding....a sexual act. That is not only perverted but disappointing that we haven't out grown our suppressing past and realize that breastfeeding is not only natural, but important.
There is no difference if a little girl walks around her house pretending to feed her doll with a bottle or if she pretends to feed her doll with her breast. If anyone views that a prepubescent girl pretending to breastfeed is sexual, they should, in all honesty, be evaluated for sexual perversions.

I believe that breastfeeding is the best thing you can offer your baby. It has been clinically proven that breast milk the healthiest sustenance you can offer your baby for the first 6 months of their life.
Now I understand that a lot can happen to where a mother is not able to breastfeed, but as the only woman in my entire family that breastfed/breastfeeds (except my grandmother), I've seen a lot of lame excuses. To be completely honest, I've wanted to give up breastfeeding in the beginning so many times. It is the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was more than completely worth it. Lily and I have a unbelievable bond, and the closeness I feel with her when she nurses is indescribable. And I can honestly say that the closeness that nursing has given us would not be there if I formula fed her.

I know a lot of women formula feed, and I hope I didn't offend anyone, because that was not the reason for my post. To each their own. I know you have reason for not breastfeeding, I am not saying you don't care/love your baby because you decided you have to formula feed. I just personally believe breastfeeding is the best option, and should be done unless it's completely impossible to accomplish.
And I know I am going to raise Lily with the knowledge that breastfeeding is the best option and is nothing to shy away from just because it's not as accepted as formula feeding. Also that it's the hardest thing she'll have to do, but she's strong enough and her baby will thank her for it and she'll be proud to be one of the few mothers that were able to breastfeed.
