Wordless Wednesday?

Partially wordless that is. He are some random pictures. If you have any questions about them, let me know (i.e where were you, what the heck were you doing?).

Overreacting Mom?

I first noticed this rash on Lily on Sunday, I thought it was nothing, now it spread to her other cheek. I called her doctor and she has an appointment tomorrow, but I did the worst thing you could do, look it up on the internet, now I'm so nervous. She hasn't had a fever that I could tell, and has no other symptoms or anything, but still, I'm nervous. Oh and by the way, the pictures don't do the rash justice, the flash washes out the color of the rash and make it look smaller than it actually is.

I love "firsts"

It's one of the many perks to being a mama, being able to have front row seat to your child's reaction to first time experience.
Like the first time I handed Lilian her a dill pickle....awesome, especially when she attempted to eat it three more times, and seeing three different "Oh my gawd what is this stuff!" face. Or the first time she danced when seeing me act-a-fool to one of her t.v shows. How about the first time she reached out for me to pick her up, ((sigh)) my heart melted that day. The first time she attempted to get a wet noodle from her sticky hands in to her mouth, now that's hilarious, but it also made me very proud to see my little one figure out how to eat like a 'big' girl.
I look forward to bringing her to new places. The beach was a favorite. Or last week we brought her to the Bucc.aneer.s football practice. Boy was it hot! But as a little over protective mom, I was completely prepared, I bought a battery powered misting fan that I kept on her at all times, not to mention she was slathered in baby sun screen. Oh and of course I had ice water on hand in her sippy cup. She could care less about the sweaty, padded football players running into each other like mad bulls, nope, she preffered investgrating the screws that kept the bleachers, that we sat on, together.

She loved sitting next to her Daddy and reading her book. And boy was she pooped when we left.

Boobies!!

I was going to post about Lily's first time seeing the Bucs football practice, but another issue has come to my attention.
So I came across and article that talks about a European doll that has been manufactured that is causing a big ruckus. The breastfeeding doll. It comes with a baby that cries when it wants more milk, along with a nursing top for the "mother" and a cover for when she breastfeeds. Some people were quoted in the article saying that it promotes early pregnancy and one columnist was even quoted to say "What's next? Inmate doll? Erectile Dysfunction doll?"
REALLY?! Are they serious? How is it that we as humans are so prude as to compare a breastfeeding doll to a criminally inclined doll or a doll with a SEXUAL problem??? That right there shows you how we look at breastfeeding....a sexual act. That is not only perverted but disappointing that we haven't out grown our suppressing past and realize that breastfeeding is not only natural, but important.
There is no difference if a little girl walks around her house pretending to feed her doll with a bottle or if she pretends to feed her doll with her breast. If anyone views that a prepubescent girl pretending to breastfeed is sexual, they should, in all honesty, be evaluated for sexual perversions.

I believe that breastfeeding is the best thing you can offer your baby. It has been clinically proven that breast milk the healthiest sustenance you can offer your baby for the first 6 months of their life.
Now I understand that a lot can happen to where a mother is not able to breastfeed, but as the only woman in my entire family that breastfed/breastfeeds (except my grandmother), I've seen a lot of lame excuses. To be completely honest, I've wanted to give up breastfeeding in the beginning so many times. It is the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was more than completely worth it. Lily and I have a unbelievable bond, and the closeness I feel with her when she nurses is indescribable. And I can honestly say that the closeness that nursing has given us would not be there if I formula fed her.

I know a lot of women formula feed, and I hope I didn't offend anyone, because that was not the reason for my post. To each their own. I know you have reason for not breastfeeding, I am not saying you don't care/love your baby because you decided you have to formula feed. I just personally believe breastfeeding is the best option, and should be done unless it's completely impossible to accomplish.
And I know I am going to raise Lily with the knowledge that breastfeeding is the best option and is nothing to shy away from just because it's not as accepted as formula feeding. Also that it's the hardest thing she'll have to do, but she's strong enough and her baby will thank her for it and she'll be proud to be one of the few mothers that were able to breastfeed.

I'll let you in on a few things.

Now I'm not promising that they are interesting or entertaining, just some random stuff about me and whatever else I decide to throw in.

First I'll let you know a little more about me.......Here we go
  • I'm pretty dang shy, but if approached I'll talk your ear off.
  • People always think my straight face looks like I'm pissed. I can't tell you how many times someone has said "When I first met you, I thought you hated me.....you looked like you were mad at me."
  • I'm the most uptight, laid back person you'll ever meet.....seriously.
  • I constantly worry if Lilian has had enough to eat. To be completely honest it consumes me...that and if she'd ever get serious ill (i.e the flu.)
  • I'm very defensive, and if you offend me, just be prepared. I've calmed down a lot since Lilian has been here.
  • I'm not scared at all to say what's on my mind, to anyone. I've been asked numerous times by other people to speak for them because they know I'll step in for them.
  • I still feel like a teenager, I don't feel like an adult, at all.
  • I love being different, going against the grain. But people that try sooooooooo hard every second of every day to be different get me upset.....I want to push them into a puddle.
  • When I hear of parents against vaccines for their children, it makes me want to scoop up their kids and hull butt. (get offended if you want, there is nothing you can say that will change my mind or regret saying that....go ahead.)
  • I love being Romanian. I love the culture, I love the family closeness and traditions, but sometimes, I honestly wish my family was American. It seems easier.
  • I wish I was taller.
  • I can't stand people that cannot admit fault when they are clearly in the wrong. But on the same note, I admit I have a problem doing just the same....I'll do it....but it hurts.

So that's all I can think of for now. Hopefully if it stops raining (not rain in Florida during the summer, PFFFF.) Lily will be going to her first Football practice.

It's way to early for my liking!

Lilian insisted we wake up at 5:30am. She climbed on to my chest and put her nose on mine, looked into my eyes and said "ooooooooooh." I believe that's baby talk for "Mom, it's time to get up and play for a little bit." So here we are.
I was planning on writing a long post about pet peeves and people's personalities etc. etc. but I am way to tired to be thoughtful and deep. Instead I'll just remind everyone that my little baby is going to be 10 months in five short days....and I as a mother am not fond of this growing up gimmick. You might be thinking, "Whats so wrong with turning 10 months, it's only 10 months?!"
Yes, I realize this, but 10 months turns into 1 year old, in 2 short months later......and that my friends is the beginning of her not being a little baby any longer, that is the beginning of toddlerhood. ((Sigh)) I wish there was a potion I could give her to trap her at this age, so she wouldn't grow up into a back talking, belly button pierced, boy chasing, tattoo wanting, detention getting, school skipping teenager. Oh well, I guess this is what karma feels like.

Ok I am going to attempt to go back to sleep, or convince Lily that when it's dark out still, it's time to sleep.

Here are some pictures of Lily on the prowl for the camera.

She spots it.....And the chase is on!!!!!

Off to Grandma's house we go!

Actually we got back Saturday. The drive up didn't start out so well. Lily up chucked ALL over the back seat. We think she got car sick, but I think she's just getting sick all together. Grandma made us dinner when we arrived (3 1/2 hour drive) It was good. Lilian played on the floor, walked along the couch and pulled down all of Grandma's stuffed toys....of course. We were sad to leave, but we had a busy Sunday. I kinda wish we would have stayed the weekend....especially if I would have known the drama waiting for us at home. ((sigh)) That's for a different post...honestly it doesn't even deserve a post....lets just say a relative RUDELY banged on our door at 3am, scaring the the living jeepers out of Lilian, when they have a key to get in our house....completely F&*@ing moron. It took me about two hours to calm her and put her back to sleep, like I said she's getting sick too, so she was extra grumpy about being woken up. I am so pissed. Whatever.

Back on a better note, here are some of my favorite pictures from Lilian's Great Grandma's house!

Sitting on her Great Grandma's lap

Lily casually picking her nose on Great Grandma's lap.....awesomeShe's so cute.
Acck! Flash!
Lily is upset her Daddy is using all of her minutes on her cell phone.

I have a lot of other pictures I want to share, but I have a sleep deprived, sick, grumpy baby to take care.
